Get Help from the Library!

Please contact the library throughout your research, from recommendations for places to find good sources, to evaluating sources, to citing! You can look through the self-help guides on this site, or make an appointment with a librarian. Librarians can help you find sources you need while honing your research skills in the process.

Visit the Get Help page to find out how to ask a librarian a research question or schedule an appointment.

When should you contact a librarian?

  • You don't know how to start your research
  • The sources you are using aren't providing the evidence you need to support your work
  • You need to know how to cite sources
  • You're having trouble developing a research question
  • You don't know if you are using sources ethically

Using the Library

While the Library is not a designated silent space, it is a place where students come to study and work on projects. There is little space in the library that can be isolated from noise. When using the library, remember that it is a shared space for all students, and that people have different tolerances for noise. To keep noise to a minimum, please abide by the following:

  • Use a group study room for projects or social events.
  • Be respectful of students around you trying to study.
  • Use headphones to listen to music or watch videos at a volume that cannot be heard around you.
  • Take calls outside the library.
  • When engaging in group activities, speak in conversational tones, avoiding yelling and profanity.
