Find an Article Using a Citation

How to get access to a journal article when you have title, author, year, etc.

Step 1 - Know Your Citation

In order for you to retrieve an article through the library, it's best to know the article's complete citation in order to access it quickly.

Let's say you want to find the article titled, "Do open access mandates work? A systematized review of the literature on open access publishing rates." The article's complete citation is deconstructed below, and presented in APA citation format.

Citation styles vary in books, articles, and databases depending on publication standards. Some elements might located in different positions and some of the text may be formatted differently. However, any citation will contain the author(s), title of article, title of periodical in which it was published, and year published. Volume, issue, and page numbers as well as the digital object identifier may appear if they are applicable.
