General Education (GEND)

A guide for GEND courses.

Using Library Databases

Most of the research you need to conduct for your courses should start with Library databases. Library databases contain important information that will help you complete any research project you might undertake while you are a student at Harrisburg University.

It is critical that you use Library-provided databases as you research. The material you find in these databases is paid for by Harrisburg University through your tuition dollars, and is curated by the Library. Google and Google Scholar are not sufficient! Library databases provide full-text access to information that you cannot access anywhere else.

Below you will find some databases that cover a wide range of topics that can help you get started with your research. Be sure to read the descriptions to make sure the database you select will cover your research question.

General Purpose Databases

The Library provides access to more than 100 databases. Many of them are specific to certain disciplines, such as business or nursing.

The following databases contain material on a wide range of subjects. Any of them should help you get started on a general education research project.
