Noise
The Harrisburg University Library is small and currently lacks noise barriers. Students have told the Library staff that the Library can get too noisy. To keep the environment comfortable for all, please adhere to the following:
Because Harrisburg University is a technology focused institution, the Harrisburg University Library is moving toward a print-free experience, focusing on all-digital databases, journals. and e-Books rather than print books. This strategy not only makes access to information more equitable for students working remotely, but also increases the Library's buying power by reducing the costs associated with processing, labeling, shelving, and check-out equipment.
Electronic resources also offer features such as text searching, magnification, highlighting and notation, and text-to-speech options which are useful to those with visual impairments or learning differences.
The Library will continue to maintain a "free library" section for those who like to trade print books, as well as a collection of other physical materials such as games and puzzles and material created by the Harrisburg University community.
The space that will be freed up by removing bookshelves will be used to make the library a more dynamic space in the coming years!
