    • full-text online databases of articles from newspapers, magazines, and journals (available on campus and off campus with valid HU campus card);
    • thousands of print and electronic books;
    • on-demand streaming video via MediaCast;
    • interlibrary loan of books from other libraries;
    • electronic document delivery of articles owned by other libraries;
    • a small number of popular magazines in print; and
    • the service of a University Librarian specializing in science and technology information.

  • Who can help me with finding information in the library?
    The University Librarian is happy to help students find information, learn how to effectively use library resources such as databases, and begin research and writing projects. Contact for assistance or see the box at right.

  • Can I use library databases from off campus?
    Yes, but you will need to be authenticated as an HU student or faculty member.  Follow these instructions when you are linked to the authentication page: 

    • select "Harrisburg" from the pull-down menu at the right of the log-in screen
    • enter your HU network ID
    • enter your HU network password
    • click "enter.

  • Does the library have videos?
    Yes, students have access to videos 24 hours a day, seven days a week through our MediaCast on-demand streaming media system.

  • Can I request materials that are not owned by the HU Library?
    Yes, through our interlibrary loan and document delivery services.  Fill out a request form and library staff will find out who owns the book or article and request a copy for you.

Learning Commons Hours:
Students have 24x7 access to the Learning Commons with their HU ID card.

David Runyon, the University Librarian, is on campus from 8 AM-4 PM most business days.  To meet with him, please schedule an appointment at or by calling 717-901-5188.  

Students and faculty may access electronic library resources 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  Off campus use requires authentication with your HU network ID and password.
